How We Protect Your Home During a Roof Replacement
A new roof shouldn’t cost you your driveway, your flower beds or your weekend cleaning up nails. Here is exactly how every DNA roof project is set up, shown in our own drone photos from San Antonio jobs.
Step 1 · Delivery
Shingles delivered straight to your roof
Before tear-off day, your new shingles are loaded directly onto the roof by the supplier’s delivery truck. No pallets sitting in your driveway or on your lawn.
- No heavy pallets cracking your driveway or killing your grass
- Your driveway and garage stay usable
- Bundles are spread across each slope so the weight is balanced
- Materials are already up top, so the crew installs faster

Step 2 · Ground protection
Tarps around the entire home
On install morning, the crew lays heavy tarps around the perimeter of your home before a single shingle comes off.
- Flower beds, rock beds and mulch
- Walkways, patios and the driveway
- Along every side of the house where debris can fall
- Makes the final cleanup faster and more thorough
Step 3 · Debris control
The Catch-All system
Tarps are good. The Catch-All is better. It is a professional debris-catching system built for roof tear-offs, and it is a big part of why homeowners mention our cleanup in their reviews.
- Chute nets hang from padded poles that lean against your home and catch nails, shingle pieces and underlayment scraps as they come off the roof
- Ground nets are load-bearing, so debris can be carried straight to the dump trailer instead of dragged across your yard
- Landscape nets are breathable, so shrubs and plants are protected without being crushed or cooked under plastic in the Texas sun
- Gutter protection where needed, to keep ladders and debris from denting your gutters
Why it matters
Nails stay out of your yard
Loose roofing nails are the number one complaint after a roof replacement: flat tires, hurt pets and kids stepping on them for weeks. Catching debris before it hits the ground means far fewer nails to find later.
Ask about the Catch-All when we come out for your free roof inspection.

Step 4 · Tear-off & cleanup
Straight into the dump trailer, then a full cleanup
Old shingles go off the roof and directly into our dump trailer parked at your home. At the end of every work day, the crew cleans up the site.
- Old roofing goes into the trailer, not piled in your yard
- Tarps and nets are cleaned off and pulled at the end of the job
- Daily cleanup and a magnetic nail sweep of your yard and driveway
- A final walk-through with you before we call the job done

FAQ
Job site prep questions
Will the shingle bundles on my roof damage it?
No. The bundles sit on your existing roof for a short time and are spread across the slopes so the weight is distributed. Your old roof is coming off anyway, and the new decking and underlayment go down before any new shingles are installed.
Do I need to do anything before install day?
We go over everything with you before install day. Most homeowners just move vehicles out of the driveway and garage area, and take down anything fragile hanging on interior walls, since tear-off can cause some vibration.
Will my plants and flower beds be OK?
That is exactly what our prep is for. Tarps cover the ground around your home, and the Catch-All landscape nets are breathable so shrubs and plants are protected without being crushed or cooked under a plastic tarp in the Texas heat.
Will there be nails left in my yard?
Our setup is built to stop that. Old shingles go straight into the dump trailer, and the Catch-All chute and ground nets catch nails and small debris before they reach your yard. The crew cleans up before leaving and walks the property with you at the end.
How long does a roof replacement take?
Most homes are done in one to two days, depending on the size of the roof, the pitch, and the weather. Having materials delivered to the roof ahead of time is a big reason we can move that fast.
